Dirt Demo Days – Interbike 2009

Where to begin. The whole Interbike 2009 experience was incredible. I could never put it into words that do it justice. The best I can do is be brief, and show you as many photos as possible.

It all starts with the two demo days prior to the exhibit. For those that don’t know, you can literally visit / talk with any manufacturer and ride ANY bike they have in the 2010 line. And you can choose from riding that bike on shuttled DH trails or on really flowy XC trails. There are also pretty sick dirt jumps (lots) and a skills area. I’ll be posting images from the dirt jumps as well as reviews on the bikes I rode. I posted a whole bunch of photos from the show itself here. Stay tuned for new content or subscribe by RSS to be notifyed of new posts.

All Mountain / Freeride Guys Pitch-In

I went riding this past Saturday at Patapsco State Park. Hit the Avalon loop from the top of the park and ride. Did exactly three hours solo. It’s more peaceful alone. Not to mention, I can chill out and concentrate on my technical skills. Don’t have to worry about blazing by all the trail features at lightning fast, hammer-head speed. That’s how most of my friends ride. I think I only have three or four friends that like to get air, wear baggy cloths, and have bikes that travel more than 5 inches. Going alone allows me to concentrate on all mountain riding. I’ll practice logs, skinnies, lips, jumps and hucks. I’ll double back and do em again. And again. And again. Fast is cool, but my focus is on being a solid all-around rider.

Dirt Jumping With Gary Lessner

So a couple weeks back I went over to Robert E. Lee park with my boy Gary. Gary was gonna hit some dirt jumps and get photo’ed by some kid. I forget his name, but that kid was cool. All these pics are props to him.

The pic you see on the right is me. I know, weak. Gimme a break. I haven’t hit any gaps in over two years. I need to grow my balls back. What you see in that pic is me starting to grow ‘em again.

Ghost Bike From My Trip to Apex, NC

I went to see my boy Whitey down in Apex, North Carolina. The area is know as the “RDU” and it’s about 15 minutes or less from Raleigh, NC. It was a good trip. We hung out, got caught up, and even got some riding in. Scott picked up a Gary Fisher Roscoe a few months back. It’s a sweet all-mountain rig. I took my Chameleon down and we hit some single track.

We rode a non-sanctioned trail system called “286.” For a non-sactioned trail, this thing was extremly well maintained and we saw lots of other riders. I think the land was owned by an airport that just didn’t really want people on the land but sort of turned the other cheek to it.
